Top 10 Films with LGBTQ Themes [Linwood’s Picks]

With the absurd amount of controversy stemming from introducing more prominent LGBTQ characters in mainstream entertainment such as the ‘DuckTales’ reboot along with misplaced outrage regarding the previously released ‘Batwoman’ live-action adaptation television series on CW, I found it was necessary as a Black cinephile to list my ten favorite movies that feature LGBTQ films while of different genres and deal with various subject-matter that has notably impressed me or influenced my work as a storyteller.

I pride creators who can implement sexuality as a focal point, rather than for marketing purposes as an uninspired way of introducing passive diversity, which includes deviating from the source material for this reason. Therefore, you won’t see the likes of films such as 2017’s ‘Power Rangers’ (Trini Kwan) or Star Trek Beyond (Hikaru Kato Sulu).
